Parkland improves to 8-0

The Parkland High School boys soccer team continued to win the games against the teams in front of them on their schedule.

The Trojans won all three games last week and currently are the only unbeaten team in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference. They are 8-0 overall and in the EPC. Rival Emmaus is 8-1 overall and the only other unbeaten team in conference play at 8-0.

Parkland defeated Easton at home 4-1 last Monday, September 11, went on the road and got the better of Northampton 3-1 on Wednesday and then ended its week with a 3-0 home victory over Freedom on Friday. The Trojans gave both the Kids and the Patriots their first loss of the season.

Against the Red Rovers, Parkland had its four goals come from four different players as Jack Maeir, Sam Masenheimer, Josh Daniels and Trevor Grice all found the back of the net in the game. Bryce Peters, Ramy Chaker and Grice each contributed an assist. Zach Ironside finished with one save in goal for the Trojans, which outshot Easton 7-1 in shots on goal and had a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks.

In the win over the Kids, Parkland once again had different goal scorers as Logan Thrash, Grice and Kyle Tobia each had a goal. Daniels tallied two assists and Lincoln Fritz added one. Ironside made nine saves in goal as the two teams each had 10 shots on goal. Northampton had a 2-1 edge in corner kicks.

Versus the Patriots, Thrash tallied two of the three goals and Masenheimer added the third. Ironside and Grice both contributed an assist and the former also finished with four saves. The Trojans had a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal and 3-1 edge in corners.

Parkland has another three-game week with all three games in conference. The Trojans were at East Stroudsburg South this past Tuesday, host Stroudsburg for Youth Night at Parkland High School on Thursday night and then are at Allen on Saturday afternoon.
