Hanover community event logs increased attendance

Hanover Township, Lehigh County, Council Chairman Bruce Paulus presided over a swift, efficient council meeting that touched all the meeting’s scheduled items within 15 minutes.

In her township manager’s report, Melissa Wehr said the recent Community Night, held Aug. 22 at Canal Park, 1960 N. Dauphin St., was a success. Wehr noted the attendance at the annual event increased.

“It was a beautiful night,” Wehr added.

All on council agreed the important night of fellowship for the township was a success.

Another item was presented in the manager’s report to council. Wehr said she is finalizing the township’s 2024 budget and expects it done in October for council to review and adjust as necessary. A council vote to adopt the budget is expected to occur in December.

In the solicitor’s report, beyond the submitted written report Eaton Jackson, Esq. provided to council, Jackson publicly thanked the Gross, McGinley Law Firm of Allentown for hosting a Hanover Township, Lehigh County, evening at a recent Lehigh Valley IronPigs baseball game at Coca-Cola Park, Allentown.

At the gathering at the baseball park, Wehr reportedly won the 50-50 drawing. She received some friendly ribbing from council members asking when she was taking them out for dinner.

In his engineer report, Al Kortze, of Keystone Consulting Engineers, reported the Valley Plaza sanitary sewer project was progressing well. The Catasauqua Road project is completing initial phases.

Kortze also reported three MS4 projects are beginning that will assist the township in meeting the requirements of the goal to reduce pollution.

Council will next meet 7 p.m. Sept. 20 at the municipal building, 2202 Grove Road. It is an in-person-only meeting.
