Small tennis team fights uphill battle

The Salisbury girls tennis team is doing its best with just three players in the line up this season. The Falcons have to forfeit doubles matches, but they have been able to fill out three singles positions.

Salisbury lost 4-1 to Tamaqua in a nonleague match on Aug. 30, marking the first win for any Falcon player in a match this season. The Falcons forfeited the two doubles matches and went 1-2 in singles as Jaylene Vasquez won the No. 3 doubles match 6-3, 6-3 over the Blue Raiders’ August Stinson.

The Falcons Colonial League matches by 5-0 scores to Palisades on Aug. 29 and to Moravian Academy on Aug. 28.

Salisbury fell to Pen Argyl 4-0 in the season-opener on Aug. 23. In that match, Vasquez and No. 2 singles player Kacie Kaough both played three-set matches that included a tiebreaker set in both.
