Lower Milford Township annual fall festival set for Sept. 23

Lower Milford Township will host its annual fall festival Sept. 23 on the campus of the municipal building, 7607 Chestnut Hill Church Road.

The festival will be held 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine.

Festival highlights will include free carriage and wagon rides, hot air balloon rides and numerous crafters and vendors. Music acts at the festival will include The Verdict, performing 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Banned from the Ranch, performing 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Baked goods and a variety of food trucks will be available for hungry festival goers to enjoy.

Visitors also will have a chance to build a scarecrow, decorate pumpkins and try an obstacle course.

The day also will include a silent auction to benefit the Lower Milford Township Fire Company.

Come out for a day celebrating the change of seasons.

By the way, in addition to the silent auction above, the Lower Milford Township Fire Company also is offering supporters a way to help the department by purchasing pizza. Visit the fire company’s website, www.lowermilfordfire.org for details. The fundraiser continues through Sept. 30.

According to organizers, the fall plant sale Aug. 12-13 at The Seed Farm, Upper Milford Township, was a success. More than 4,000 transplants left the farm to dwell in gardens and vegetable patches.

Staying in Upper Milford Township for a moment, keep some important dates in mind as fall moves into high gear.

At Upper Milford Western District Fire Company, Zionsville, Upcoming fundraising events include a chicken barbecue takeout meal event scheduled Oct. 9 and a Sportsman’s Raffle Nov. 4. Also, please note the monthly all-you-can-eat breakfasts return Oct. 1. Breakfast is served 7 a.m. to noon. There is a cost for tickets.

Citizens Fire Company of Upper Milford Township, also known as the Vera Cruz Fire Company by township residents, will host Hometown Christmas Nov. 18. Plus, the company will participate in the annual Vera Cruz Halloween Parade Oct. 18. The raindate is Oct. 19.

Mike Jesberger is scheduled to talk baseball 7 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Upper Milford Historical Society meeting at the township building, 5671 Chestnut St. Jesberger will talk about how the game was played during the Civil War era.

The Lower Milford Township board of supervisors next meets 6:30 p.m. Sept. 21 at the municipal building.

The Upper Milford Township board of supervisors next meet 7 p.m. Sept. 7 and Sept. 21 at the municipal building.
