St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, is looking for crafters and artists for the annual craft fair and quilt sale scheduled for Oct. 14.

If you, a family member or friend like to create, church organizers welcome your or their participation to set up as a vendor at the craft fair.

Some suggestions for homemade items include sewing, crocheting, knitting, quilting, painting, wood crafts, flower arranging, wreaths, jewelry, toys, games, candy, stained glass and more.

The craft fair attracts many visitors and includes a quilt display, baked goods and a raffle.

Call the church at 610-262-8061 for a registration packet.

St. John’s UCC hosts a quilting group from 9-11:30 a.m. every Wednesday.

Participants have a lot of fun together doing hand and machine sewing, knotting, and machine and hand quilting.

An invitation is extended to everyone, whether experienced or not. Learn as you go.

Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, Preschool Director Annette Wilcox reports the 4-year-old class had a project to watch caterpillars grow, spin a chrysalis and emerge as butterflies, which the children released on a beautiful spring morning.

“It is the ideal metaphor for this past school year as we watched all of our students grow and change from the hesitant, quiet students of September into the confident fully engaged students of May,” Wilcox said.

She said the preschoolers have been released, like the butterflies, to soar off to new adventures in kindergarten.
