SES Ice Cream Festival June 3

The last T-shirt day at Salisbury Elementary School is June 2.

The SES fourth grade concert, graduation and awards ceremony will be held June 1.

Don’t forget the SES Ice Cream Festival noon to 4 p.m. and the Salisbury Athletic Booster Club clothing drive June 3. Drop off is 9 a.m. to noon in front of the Salisbury High School auxiliary gym.

On June 6, SHS and Salisbury Middle School will dismiss 12:15 p.m. and SES will dismiss 1:15 p.m. On June 7, the last day of school for the 2022-2023 school year, SHS and SMS will dismiss 10:30 a.m. and SES will dismiss 11:15 a.m.

The next school board meeting is 7 p.m. June 14 at the administration building.

If you were unable to attend your student’s music concert last week, the school recorded every one and they are available to watch online.

The Wildlands Conservancy has many exciting programs this summer. On June 10-11 they will have the Lehigh River Sojourn. June 10 will be white-water rafting through the Lehigh Gorge and June 11 will be kayaking or canoeing on the Lehigh River. For more information and additional classes, visit wildlandspa.org.

The Salisbury Yard Waste Drop-off sites are open as follows: The Franko site will be open June 1 and 3 and Devonshire will be open June 5, 8 and 10. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

A Patriotic Program and Concert with the Allentown Marine Band will be held 7 p.m. June 3 at Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church, 3441 Devonshire Road, Allentown. The event will be held outside in the grove, weather permitting, or otherwise inside the historic 1819 sanctuary of the church.

This concert, sponsored by the Memorial Day Committee, will honor patriotic holidays throughout the year, including Washington’s Birthday, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day and will include a special memorial tribute to the deceased veterans of all wars, as well as recognition of those veterans present at the program.

Karen ElChaar, of Allentown, fife major, and Joshua Fink, of Lower Macungie, drum major, of “The Musick of the American Revolution of Salisbury and Allen Town,” an educational musical heritage ensemble of Flutations, Inc. of Allentown, will join the Allentown Marine Band to present this concert and program.

The program will end with the ever popular march, “The Stars and Stripes Forever,” by John Philip Sousa.

Refreshments will be served following the concert. Donations will be accepted benefiting the Memorial Day Committee to help defray the costs of the program. This will be the kickoff concert for the 2023 Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church Concert Series.

The next concert in the 2023 Jerusalem Western Salisbury Concert Series will be held 7 p.m. July 8 and will feature a local musical group, the Cedar Routes, who play folk country gospel music. The event will be held outside in the grove, weather permitting, or otherwise inside the historic 1819 sanctuary of the church.
