Coplay: Visionary of Year fundraiser is May 20

There is a Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Visionary of the Year fundraiser set for 11 a.m.-10 p.m. May 20 at the Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St.

The event includes a cornhole tournament and concert. There is an entrance cost per cornhole team. Three games are guaranteed.

There is a concert cost, which includes a free draft or soda. The Castaways will perform 1:30-4 p.m. Lucky 7 will entertain 6-9 p.m.

All proceeds raised for the society will be in the name of Joey Groller.

Reminder: The Saengerbund continues its Friday night music series.

Stereotype will perform May 19, and Social Call is set for May 26.

The June lineup includes Dirty Roxx June 2, Honey Buzzards June 9, Doubting Thomas June 16, Sons of Izzy June 23 and Smith Compound Band June 30.

Doors, bar and kitchen all open 5 p.m. The bands perform 6-10 p.m.

The Coplay Wednesday night summer series continues 6-9 p.m. at the borough’s Community Plaza, North Second and Chestnut streets.

A Pair of Aardvarks plays May 24, and Rock Steady performs June 7.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St., is planning a 150th anniversary celebration May 21.

Worship will begin 10:30 a.m. with Lutheran Bishop Christopher deForest giving the sermon.

There will be a gala luncheon starting noon at the Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St.

Ticket sales ended May 8.

St. John’s Lutheran Church has a barbecue chicken pickup dinner 4-5:30 p.m. June 10.

Dinner is chicken with barbecue sauce, baked potato, corn, applesauce, fruit cup, roll and dessert.

Cost is a freewill donation.

The municipal pool, Second and Keefer streets, is gearing up for a great summer season with Aqua Zumba by Tara Miller, free swim weekend Aug. 25-27, twilight pool evenings and other activities.

Coplay Borough is seeking a vendor for the municipal pool concession stand, a pool manager, pool lifeguards and a pavilion cleaner.

American Club of Coplay, 300 Cherry St., continues to offer its monthly hoagie sales. Hoagies (regular or tuna) and sandwiches (ham and cheese or tuna) are available.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.

If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta and rice pouches.
