Susan D. Friend, 68, of Zionsville, died May 7, 2023, in her home. She was the wife of Raymond A. Friend for 47 years. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of Deborah (Snyder) German, of New Tripoli and the late Mark C. German.

She worked as a secretary and in administration at Lehigh Valley Hospital for 20 years.

She served as the choir director for Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Old Zionsville, for many years.

She enjoyed music, singing and gardening. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and most of all vacationing with the grandkids.

She is survived by her husband; mother; son, Raymond M., of Zionsville; daughter, Gwendolyn Martin and partner, Kermit C. Gorr, of Boyertown; grandchildren, Gabriela Martin, Gianna Martin, Nolan R.; brothers, Eric German, of Philadelphia, Neil German and his wife, Betty, of Switzerland; sisters, Kathy German and her husband, Erich Schrempp, of Chicago, Ill., Lynn German Long, of New Tripoli.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 11 a.m. May 13 in Upper Milford Mennonite Church, 6450 Kings Highway South, Zionsville. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.
