Coplay: American Club of Coplay schedules dance

American Club of Coplay, 300 Cherry St., is holding a dance night at its pavilion April 28. The doors open 5 p.m.

The kitchen will be open, and there is a cash bar.

Common Bond will perform.

The club continues to offer its monthly hoagie sales. Hoagies (regular or tuna) and sandwiches (ham and cheese or tuna) are available.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St., will be holding a sandwich pickup, planned for 10-11:30 a.m. April 29.

The meal is for preorders only.

The menu includes ham and cheese or turkey and cheese sandwiches, chips and a dessert.

Cost is by donation. Proceeds will go toward the church renovation fund.

Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., will hold a Viennese Ball 3-6 p.m. April 30. Emil Schanta Band will perform.

Come dressed in traditional ball attire, such as black tie or white bow tie, tuxedo, vest, suit and jacket for men and ballgown, long skirt, fancy dress and hair adornments for women.

There is a cost for members and guests.

The Coplay Wednesday night summer series will soon begin at the borough’s Community Plaza, North Second and Chestnut streets.

The Jenni Hackett Duo entertains May 3; The Castaways play May 10; Steve Brosky and Jimmy Myers entertain May 17; and A Pair of Aardvarks performs May 24. Each concert is held 6-9 p.m.

The municipal pool, Second and Keefer streets, is gearing up for a great summer season with Aqua Zumba by Tara Miller, free swim weekend Aug. 25-27, twilight pool evenings and other activities.

Coplay Borough is seeking a vendor for the municipal pool concession stand, a manager, lifeguards and a pavilion cleaner.

A tire drop-off event is set for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. May 13. Drop off up to six tires, with proof of Coplay residency, at the upper parking lot at Coplay Parkway.

Tires accepted include those for cars, pickup trucks and vans only. Large truck tires, ATV tires and motorcycle or bicycle tires are not accepted.

Coplay Food Bank is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month in the lower level of the municipal building, 98 S. Fourth St.

If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

Coplay Community Days Committee is planning an exciting 2023 event.

The Aardvarks are scheduled for Aug. 25. This will be the group’s 10th anniversary at the event. The committee is also expanding its kids activities over the weekend.

The committee meets 7 p.m. the fourth Monday of every month in council chambers at the municipal building. Meetings are open to the public.
