John Ferreira

John Ferreira, 88, of Emmaus, died April 13, 2023, in Abode Care of Allentown. He was the husband of the late Mary P. (Pilolli) Ferreira. Born in Coplay, he was a son of the late Joaquin and Anna (Kuchera) Ferreira.

He was employed as an operations specialist for the former Willard Battery and Exide Battery for 37 years, retiring in 1990.

He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the special forces of the United States Army.

He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Emmaus.

He was a member of the Shriners, the Mercantile Club, Emmaus and the Long Beach Island Fishing Club.

He spent many years in Little River, S.C. and Lake Placid, Fla., with his companion Cecelia Chuplis.

He enjoyed traveling with his family and fixing stuff. The Ferreira family would like to thank Abode Care of Allentown for their care and support.

He is survived by his son, John D., of Emmaus; sisters-in-law, Irene, of Hokendauqua, Rose and her husband, Carl Burkhardt, of Orefield; brother-in-law, Alfonzo Pilolli and his wife, Jeanette, of Allentown; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Jay, Frank and Andrew.

Contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Fla. 33607 or a veterans charity of one’s choice.

Graveside services with military honors will be held 11 a.m. April 20 in the Resurrection Cemetery, 547 N. Krocks Road, Allentown. Arrangements were made by the Stephens Funeral Home, Inc., Allentown.
