Hokendauqua: Easter event is planned

Whitehall Bible Fellowship Church, 3300 Seventh St., will hold an Easter egg hunt, for ages 1-12, from 11 a.m. to noon April 1. All are invited.

There will also be games, a puppet show and prizes.

St. John’s United Church of Christ, Mickleys, 2918 MacArthur Road, will be holding a Tenebrae/Service of the Shadows worship 7 p.m. April 6. Communion will be celebrated.

Also, St. John’s UCC’s sanctuary will be open for silent prayer and reflection noon-3 p.m. April 7.

First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua will hold a Good Friday Tenebrae service 7-8 p.m. April 7 at the church, 3005 S. Front St. The service will also be livestreamed on YouTube and Facebook.

Hokey Athletic Association has a designer purse bingo scheduled for April 21 at American Club of Coplay, 300 Cherry St. Doors open 6 p.m., and bingo starts 7 p.m.

Whitehall will be holding an electronics recycling and document shredding day behind Whitehall-Coplay Middle School 9 a.m.-1 p.m., or until the trucks are full, May 20. The event is for township residents only.

You must stay in your vehicle and have exact change or a check, made out to Responsible Recycling Services, ready. An envelope is preferred.

Some items can be recycled for free, while others have a charge. If dropping off documents for shredding, there is a limit of 10 boxes.

Lehigh Valley with Littles is partnering with Whitehall Fire Department for a Stories at the Firehouse summer series program.

At 3 p.m. Aug. 12, the Hokendauqua station will welcome kids to hear a storytime, meet and greet firefighters and see the firetrucks up close and personal.
