The national touring production was scheduled for April 16, 2022, at the State Theatre. Tickets for original dates honored. John Waters wrote and directed the 1988 movie, with scenes filmed at Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom, South Whitehall Township. Waters was creative consultant for the 2002 Broadway musical, adapted for a 2007 movie and 2016 live television production. Songs include “Welcome to the 60s,” “Good Morning, Baltimore” and “You Can’t Stop the Beat.” The Broadway musical, which received eight Tony Awards including Best Musical, was the longest-running musical at the Neil Simon Theater, with 2,642 performances July 18, 2002-Jan. 4, 2009.
