Bernard A. Buhosky

Bernard “Berny” A. Buhosky, 92, of Orefield, died Nov. 16, 2022, in his home. He was the husband of the late Zoe Ann (Mood) Buhosky.

Born in Shenandoah, he was the son of the late Anthony and Helen (Zackiewicz) Buhosky.

He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, earning the rank of corporal.

A trooper with the Pennsylvania State Police, stationed with Troop M, Bethlehem, he served 30 years, until retiring in 1986. Since his formal retirement, he was employed part-time as a Lehigh County deputy sheriff 1992-2014.

He was a member of the Pennsylvania Retired State Police Association, the American Association of State Troopers and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 40.

He was a founding member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield, where he sang with the choir for 66 years, was a Eucharistic minister, lector and member of the Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus Council 10921.

He is survived by three children, Susan M. Roth and her husband Matthew of Nazareth, Zoe Ann Caruso and her companion Mario Sessanta of Northampton and Bernard R. Buhosky and his wife Debra of Coopersburg; seven grandchildren, Gregory, Theresa, Michael, Zachary, Rae Ann, Teagan and Kori Zoe; and two great-grandchildren, Everett and Nora.

He was predeceased by six siblings, Anthony, Robert, Joseph, Stanley, Josephine and Colleen.

There will be calling times 6-8 p.m. Nov. 25 at the funeral home, 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, and 11-11:50 a.m. Nov. 26, followed by a Mass of Christian burial noon, at the church, 1879 Applewood Road, Orefield.
