EHS names student of the week

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am currently enrolled in 12th grade at Emmaus High School

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My parents are Anthony and Barbara Garcia, my siblings are Landon and Lauren and my dog is Jeouxei (Joey).

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject has always been math. I really enjoy problem solving and the satisfaction I get after solving a long problem and getting it right.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. In ninth grade, I received both Excellence in Writing and Excellence in American Studies awards. I also have received Academic Excellence awards for ninth and 10th grade. My junior year, I received the Ray Ritter Memorial Award which is presented to the Most Outstanding Special Teams Player in Football.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?

A. I am the kicker on the football team at EHS. I am also an associate at Weis Markets. Both these activities have taught me mental toughness and how to be a good leader. I think being involved in a sport or a job is very important while you are in high school because there are so many life lessons to be learned.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. I think my biggest challenge to date was learning how to effectively manage my time throughout high school. Freshman year I was very unorganized and procrastinated a lot. This caused me a lot of stress. Over the years, I have learned to manage my time and complete my work early; this relieved me of a lot of stress.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. My goal is to attend a 4-year college and study in the STEM field.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. I admire my parents the most out of anyone because they have always supported me with whatever I decide to do with my life. They teach me valuable life lessons and prepare me for life on my own.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered as someone who was respectful and caring to others.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. A piece of advice I have for my peers is to get out of your comfort zone and try something new while you are in high school. You only have four years here and you should make the most of it. Sometimes you find something that you enjoy that you never thought you would.
