NORTH WHITEHALL: Upper Lehigh Lions Club to host basket social

The Upper Lehigh Lions Club will host a basket social Oct. 25 at the Schnecksville Fire Company pavilion.

Doors open 5:30 p.m. Drawing begins at 7 p.m.

Food and beverages will be available to purchase.

There will be a 50/50 drawing.

Each person bringing a donation of a nonperishable item will receive one free 50/50 raffle ticket.

Under the direction of George Fennell, the Lehigh Valley Pops Orchestra will present a benefit concert at Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, 3 p.m. Oct. 23.

Ticket proceeds will be directed to church member Abigail Graham.

Abby has been recovering from serious medical issues which began three years ago.

A 2022 graduate of Parkland High School, she has now moved on to the Thomas Jefferson University Honors Program.

Her mother reports, “The road ahead is long, but the future looks bright.”

Union Lutheran Church is cooking up turkey noodle soup, broccoli cauliflower cheddar soup and turkey barbecue.

Call 610-767-6884 by Oct. 19 to order for pickup on Oct. 29.

You can also call now to order tickets for the Union Lutheran basket party on Oct. 28 and 29.

Union Lutheran Church invites ghosts, goblins, princesses and pirates to the annual Trunk or Treat 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 22, in the lower parking lot.

This is a free, fun-filled, safe alternative to door-to-door, trick-or-treating.

Lots of decorated car trunks will be filled with candy and other treats to be handed out by their costumed owners.

At the same time, Union United Church of Christ will set up a spooktacular family friendly Halloween event in the Neffs grove parking lot.

Families can stroll through the cemetery to receive treats at both places.

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, has been conducting many activities and events this year to commemorate its 150th anniversary.

Special features include a time capsule, cookbook, commemorative quilt, and visits by clergy who previously served the congregation.

Mark your calendar for a celebratory concert by the Macungie Band at the church 3 p.m. Nov. 20.
