Labor Day DUI enforcement totals announced

Pennsylvania State Police Troop M – Bethlehem announced the results of the Labor Day holiday enforcement campaign held 12:01 a.m. Sept. 2 to 11:59 p.m. Sept. 5.

Troopers investigated a total of 45 crashes and made 29 DUI arrests, according to a news release dated Sept. 6.

One crash was fatal and was DUI related, according to data from authorities.

Troop M includes Lehigh, Northampton and Bucks counties.

The safety initiative Pennsylvania Aggressive Driving Enforcement Education Program targeted drivers who allegedly aggressively operated their vehicles in a manner dangerous to others including speeding, seat belt violations and child seat belt infractions.

In addition, Selective Traffic Enforcement Against Drunk Drivers and Drug Recognition Expert troopers specifically focused on apprehending motorists operating their motor vehicle while allegedly under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
