Salisbury High School open house Sept. 22

The first opportunity for high school students to share what is going on was at the recent board meeting Sept. 14. Salisbury High School students and Student Government Advisory members spoke at this meeting.

SGA is a club that runs many events inside the building. They plan the spirit events, speak at board meetings, attend the open house and orientation and much more. The board members were appreciative they shared all this information about the school’s athletics, clubs and activities already happening in the building.

One of the topics highlighted at the board meeting included homecoming set for the week of Oct. 11-15. The pep rally for all high school students will be held Oct. 14 in the stadium. The yearly parade, in which SHS students throw candy, is also taking place that night and the football game follows.

The Salisbury football booster club will sell apparel at all remaining home football games. Not only will they be sold at the varsity games, but they will also be sold at the junior varsity and middle school games. Items being sold include shirts, hats and hoodies.

Other than athletics, clubs at SHS are ready to put their plans into effect. The senior and junior classes are selling Gertrude Hawk candy bars. If anyone is interested in helping out the classes of 2023 and 2024, contact adviser Susan Wilson or any current senior or junior for more information about the sales.

Key Club will have a table at some of the remaining home football games selling Wawa hoagie cards. Also, members will disperse information at the game and ask for community service opportunities. Key Club wants to be involved in all different kinds of events and adviser Barry Frick wants more opportunities for the members.

Not only will Key Club members be at football games but members also plan on attending open house night.

In coordination with SGA, students will help direct parents to their student’s classrooms and help them get around the school. Open house at the high school is 6:30 p.m. Sept. 22.

A dual enrollment meeting will be hosted by the guidance department in the auditorium 6 p.m. Sept. 22.

SHS students hope to build off their already planned successful year. Look for more information about fundraisers throughout the year and support SHS athletics, clubs and activities.
