NORTH WHITEHALL: NOVA having purse bingo in Schnecksville

Northern Valley EMS is having its purse bingo fundraiser Aug. 7 in the Schnecksville Fire Company banquet hall.

Doors and kitchen open at 10 a.m. Bingo begins 1 p.m.

The event includes three specials, a basket raffle, and additional game boards which will be for sale during the day.

Each ticket includes 20 regular games and a door prize drawing.

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, invites all youngsters entering seventh or eighth grade to participate in the confirmation class which begins in September.

Union Lutheran Church welcomes all to dinner and a movie from 5-9 p.m. Aug. 6.

Drinks and popcorn will be provided. Bring a covered dish.

Breakfast will be available at Union Lutheran after the 9 a.m. Aug. 14 worship service.

Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, will have a communion service in the sanctuary 10:30 a.m. Aug. 7.

Worship will be in the grove 10:30 a.m. Aug. 14 followed by a family picnic.

All are welcome to share in the worship, meal and festivities.

Friends of the Parkland Community Library are selling Dan Schantz’s “Monthly Madness” cards, at the front desk, not only as a fundraiser but also as a way for people to get a special garden treat each month for an entire year.

Plants will be displayed at clearly marked tables at Dan Schantz’s Greenhouse, 2031 29th St. SW, just off Lehigh Street, Allentown.

The following will be offered: January, primrose; February, tulip or hyacinth; March, shamrock or daffodil; April, annual; May, geranium; June, annual assorted variety; July, hanging basket; August, $2 discount in store; September, pumpkin or gourds; October, face pumpkin; November, turkey mum; December, 4-inch poinsettia.

Cards will be sold until the supply is gone.

If you forget to redeem a monthly item, save the card and take it back to Dan Schantz the same month of the following year.

Cards do not expire.

The garden cards are a suggested gift for any person or for any occasion.
