The 59th Annual Das Awkscht Fescht opens Aug. 5

Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., offers its free community meal as a drive-up option. The next meal will be 4-5:30 p.m. Aug. 12.

Grace Lutheran Church holds a weekly food distribution 2-4 p.m. every Wednesday, Aug. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31. Signs will be posted with directions for parking and pickup.

The Macungie Farmers Market is open 4-7 p.m. Thursdays on Lumber Street, just off Main Street, Macungie. The market will be open every Thursday through the summer.

Macungie pool is open weekdays noon to 8 p.m.; weekend hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Toddler time is 11 a.m. to noon daily. Pool hours are 3-7 p.m. Aug. 29-31; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 1-5. The pool now has a motorized handicap lift. Pool visitors must park outside the park grounds during Das Awkscht Fescht Aug. 3-7 and Wheels of Time Aug. 24-28. The 59th Annual Das Awkscht Fescht, one of the country’s largest antique and classic car shows, will take place Aug. 5-7 at Macungie Memorial Park. The featured vehicles this year are foreign cars and motorcycles from England. There will also be kids entertainment and activities, including jugglers, magicians, ventriloquists and clowns. Gates open 6 a.m. for walk-ins and show cars enter after 7:30 a.m. Juried arts and crafts vendors will be open noon to 7 p.m. Aug. 5; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 6 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 7. The flea market remains open until dusk. Musical entertainment continues until 10:30 p.m. Aug. 5; until 10 p.m. Aug. 6 and until 3:45 p.m. Aug. 7. Food will be available for purchase. There will also be an Outdoor Toy Town show Aug. 5 and 6 along Lumber Street, just off Main Street.

There will be a Summer Shindig and Tricky Tray 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 13 at Macungie Memorial Park. There will be over 50 vendors as well as music and food.

The 46th Annual Collectors Car Show and Flea Market presented by the Mustang Club will be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 14 at Macungie Memorial Park. The event is held rain or shine.

There will be a cruise night 3 p.m. Aug. 20 at Macungie Memorial Park. Vehicles will start arriving 2 p.m. For more information, call 610-966-4289.

The 43rd Annual Wheels of Time Rod and Custom Jamboree will be held Aug. 26-28 at Macungie Memorial Park. The event helps support local charities and the scholarship program for local Vo-Tech automotive technology graduates. Over 1,500 custom cars and street rods will be on display.

Special features this year include Dennis Anderson and his Now Truck; TV show cars; Craig Thatcher Band 7 p.m. Aug. 26 and Flamin’ Dick and the Hot Rods 7 p.m. Aug. 27. Activities include a huge flea market, refreshments, bingo, a basket auction, a cakewalk, Chinese auctions and musical entertainment. There will also be kids’ activities such as crafts and games. The show opens 7 a.m. each day and goes until sundown. Musical entertainment continues until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Macungie Borough Council has resumed regular in person public meetings at the Macungie Institute. The next meetings will be 7:30 p.m. Aug. 15 and Sept. 6.

Cash bingo is held weekly Saturday evenings at Macungie Memorial Park. Doors open 4:30 p.m. and games begin 6:30 p.m.
