Dances, classes being offered

Lehigh Valley Active Life, 1633 W. Elm St., Allentown, is offering the following dances 7-10 p.m. Saturdays in August.

The small cover charge includes light refreshments.

·Aug. 6: “Bootschootin Country Dance” with Peggy Sue;

·Aug. 13: “KATO;”

·Aug. 20: “Johnny K;”

·Aug. 27: “The Chas Band;”

The senior center will also offer the following programs.

·Aug. 3, 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29 and 31: Instructor Trisha Baker will host an “Arts and Crafts” class 9-11 a.m.

This class is free to members.

·Aug. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31: “Art For Everyone” with instructor Sue Bauder will take place noon to 3 p.m.

·Aug. 5, 12, 19 and 26: Instructor Sue Bauder will also offer “Art For Everyone” 9-11:30 a.m.

Whatever medium you choose for both of these classes, help is available. Both new and advanced students are welcome to attend these classes.

·Aug 10: Paint N Sip – “Tropical Sunset Canvas” with instructor Angela Faidley will be offered 6–8 p.m.

·Aug. 9, 16, 23 and 30: Instructor Bonny Batman will offer a drop-in ceramics class 9-11:30 a.m. or 12:30-3:30 p.m.

·Aug. 5, 12, 19 and 26: Card making with instructor Sue Steltz will take place 9:30 a.m.

Learn a multitude of techniques to make beautiful, handmade cards for any occasion.

·Aug. 8, 15, 22 and 29: Instructor Judy Peters will host a drawing class, 9:30 a.m. Learn how to draw with pencils and paper. This course is an introduction to composition, outline and shading techniques.

·Aug. 5, 12, 19 and 26: Instructor Judy Peters will offer an acrylic class 9:30 a.m. Learn how to paint beautiful acrylic landscape scenery and subjects with brush techniques on canvas. Bring your favorite photo for inspiration, palette and an acrylic set with basic brushes.

·Aug. 4, 11, 18 and 25: Bring your project – knitting, crocheting or other needlework to the “Knit and Chat Group,” 9-11:30 a.m. They will knit a little, chat a little, exchange views on everything and learn something about each other and their talents. All levels welcome and it is free to members.

·Aug. 4, 11, 18 and 25: “Photography Composition Basics” with instructor Ray Royer will be offered 12:30 p.m. This is an informal way to learn more about photography as well as improve your photography using your cellphone or any camera. This class is free to members.
