SP goes 1-2 in LV Legion postseason

Top-seeded South Parkland saw an early exit in last week’s Lehigh Valley Legion playoff tournament.

The Trojans, which secured their place in the Region 2 playoffs by winning the league’s regular season title, were rained out on the opening night of the LVL playoffs and forced to play two games last Wednesday.

South Parkland lost the first game to. 8 seed Salisbury, 2-0.

The Falcons’ Tim Schware pitched a four-hit, complete game shutout while striking out seven Trojan batters.

South Parkland responded with an 11-1 win over Allentown in six innings later on Wednesday evening at Limeport.

James Miskanic, Sean Superka, Luke Meehan and Dylan Fili all had two hits each for the Trojans. Meehan knocked in four runs while scoring twice.

Jaiden Wanamaker got the win, pitching four innings and allowing just one hit while striking out three batters. Evan Brandt and Chase Mengel finished off the final two innings without allowing a hit.

The Trojans LVL season came to an end Thursday when they fell to No. 2 seed Whitehall-Coplay 8-1. Nick Lindenmuth pitched a complete-game, three-hitter for the Zephyrs.

As the league’s regular season champ South Parkland advances to this weekend’s Region 2 playoffs in Quakertown. They will be joined by the league’s tournament champ, North Parkland. The Buffaloes went 4-0 in the LVL playoffs and beat Lower Macungie Monday in the league title game.
