Kasak commits to PSU

Bethlehem Catholic’s Tyler Kasak is one of the country’s best wrestlers and it’s only fitting that he’ll be attending one of the top college programs.

The rising Becahi senior has decided to attend Penn State. The Nittany Lions have become the premier program in the country under head coach Cael Sanderson’s tenure, winning nine national championships since 2010 and crowning 32 individual national champions in that time frame.

Kasak hopes he can become one of them in Happy Valley and Becahi head coach Jeff Karam thinks it’s the perfect place for his uber talented 138-pounder.

“We are all so proud of Tyler and what he has accomplished,” said Karam. “Penn State is a perfect fit for him to achieve his highest potential. We’re all looking forward to seeing him on the big stage in Happy Valley.”

Kasak has a 79-3 career record at Becahi, winning the state championship in 2021. He was 44-1 last year, suffering his only loss of the season in the state semifinals against eventual state champion Pierson Manville of State College.

Kasak is a three-time district and regional champion and qualified for the Cadet World Team earlier this spring at 65 kilograms.

He’ll travel to Rome for the World Championships later this summer from July 25-August 1.
