CONTRIBUTED PHOTOS Kindergarten teachers at George Wolf Elementary School, 300 Allen St., Bath, created a book tournament for students for March Madness. Classes read Caldecott Award-winning books, then voted on their favorites in each pair. The winning books moved throughout the bracket until a final champion was crowned toward the end of the month. Third-grade students also participated in a book tournament in March, admittedly more complicated with ranked voting. These students also read each book selection independently.

The kindergarten book tournament champion is “Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus” by Mo Willems.
