ACCHS recognizes spring sports, art and academics

Allentown Central Catholic High School recently celebrated its 2022 Academic Activities & Arts Awards.

Pennsylvania Math League

ACCHS’s PML team placed sixth out of 78 schools in the state and second out of seven schools in Lehigh and Northampton counties. Congratulations to: Seniors Jeff Rander (Fourth Place), Vincent Fantozzi (Third Place), Chris Oliveira (Second Place) and Skya Guo (First Place); Juniors Makenna Reed (Fourth Place), Alex de Gale (Third Place), Mercedes Martinez (Second Place), Hunter Ramsey (First Place); Sophomores Anna Edwards and Isabel Kehoe-Huck (Fourth Place), John Peters (Third Place), Kaysiana Yeager (Second Place) and Isaac Wheeler (First Place). Moderator: Mr. Jack Pany, Assistant Coaches: Math Department.

Chess Team

Seven skilled chess players competed in the end-of-the-year tournament with all seven recording at least one win! Junior Martin Khoury won a silver medal with a record of three wins and two losses. MVP Nathan Myers achieved a season record of five wins, two losses and one tie. Team League record: four wins, four losses, two ties. Congratulations to our First Year letter winners: Nathan Myers, Emmanuel Oliveras, Thomas St. Pierre, Carter Rodowicz, Matt Braun, Martin Khoury, Tanner Temple, Alvaro Cuesta, Isaac Wheeler and Adam Issermoyer. Envirothon

The Envirothon is a competition between local schools on the topic of environmental science, organized by the Lehigh County Conservation District at the regional level. The school team that wins regionals moves on to compete at the state level. ACCHS competed for the first time in a decade and placed fifth. Congratulations to Michael Stahley, Kevin Kardos, Kiara Regan, Josslin Muto, Mary Samir, Vincent D’Ottavio, Richard Koehler. Autumn Germick, Annette Lee, Arseny Skrapits and James Evans. Key Club

Our Key Club members spent the day helping at the annual Kiwanis-LVCC Picnic at the Rose Gardens in Allentown recently. Great job by Annette Lee, Autumn Germick, Mimi Norris, Ryan Norris, Nick Santos, Enzo Fantozzi, Joey Duffy, Ava Luchetti and Kaitlyn Janny.

Dance Team

Congratulations are in order for team captains: Indira Alvarado, Makenna Deegan, Sydney Kofroth. Letter winners: First Year – Carissa LaSalle, Rianna Nat, Alexa Nodes, Felicity Oliveria, Janai Williams. Second Year – Keiley Falcon, Vito Reyes, Vivian Yozzi, Mantana Leibenguth, Sareena Nat, Skye Santiago, and Indira Alvarado. Fourth Year – Makenna Deegan and Sydney Kofroth. The team is directed by Mrs. Ayeisha Evans and Mrs. Adrienne Motley.

The Day-Maurin Service Society recognizes students who go above and beyond their required annual service commitments – seniors achieve 150+ hours through their four years. Community and Christian Service, especially through the Central City Project, is an integral part of the lives and formation of ACCHS students. Day-Maurin Senior Scholarship

Congratulations to our 2022 Day-Maurin Senior Scholarship recipients, Jennifer Millisits and Matthew Miller. Jennifer and Matthew committed to more than 150 service hours during their freshman, sophomore, junior and seniors years at ACCHS as part of the Day-Maurin Service Society. Their scholarships are awarded annually by Brian and Summer Sullivan ‘13 in memory of Amy Sullivan.

EPC Scholar Athlete Award

Congratulations to Ben Scandone, lacrosse and Joe Duffy, track and field, who were celebrated as our EPC Scholar Athlete Award recipients. The Vikings were honored at the EPC Scholar Athlete Luncheon held at the Stroudsmoor Inn May 19.
