Adopt a butterfly in Macungie

Macungie Town Beautification is once again offering butterfly adoptions. For an adoption cost, a 21-inch butterfly will be placed on Main Street in June and remain there until mid-August. Adoption forms are available on the “Macungie Town Beautification” Facebook page or at The Macungie Institute or Macungie Borough Hall office. For more information, email ppetites@ptd.net.

The Lower Macungie Library will have its spring book sale in May.

Join the Friends and you can come to the early bird sale 5-7:30 p.m. May 5. The book sale will be open to the general public 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 6 and 7 in the Lower Macungie Library. The bag sale will start 2:30 p.m. May 7. There are books, DVDs, CDs and puzzles.

There will be a Cavy Breeder Show May 14 at Macungie Memorial Park.

Bark Around the Park, hosted by Lehigh Valley Kennel Club, will be held 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 15 at Macungie Memorial Park. The event includes workshops and demonstrations, fun dog activities, meet the breeds, blessing of the dogs, costume and coloring contest, AKC events, vendors and more.

There will be a cruise night 3 p.m. May 21 at Macungie Memorial Park. Vehicles will start arriving 2 p.m. For more information, call 610-966-4289.

Waggin Tails Vendor Festival and Tricky Tray will be held at Macungie Memorial Park 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 21. There will be vendors, crafters, food and drink. All proceeds from the Tricky Tray benefit Macungie Memorial Park.

The Delaware Valley Dalmatian Club will host an AKC Fast CAT Event May 21-22 at Macungie Memorial Park.

There will be two hands-on clay workshops offered May 22 at Macungie Memorial Park. The workshops, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2-5 p.m., will offer the opportunity to make a garden tile or pet memorial stone. For more information or to register, go to www.wilzpottery.com/gardentileworkshop.

Macungie pool memberships are being accepted. The pool will open for the season May 28. Weekday hours are noon to 8 p.m.; weekend hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. More information is available at www.MacungiePark.com.

Macungie Borough Hall will be closed May 30.

The Macungie Borough Council meetings will be 7:30 p.m. May 16 and June 6 at The Macungie Institute.

Cash bingo is held weekly Saturday evenings at Macungie Memorial Park. Doors open 4:30 p.m. and games begin 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 610-966-4289.

The Macungie Park Board of Directors meeting will be held 7 p.m. May 31.

Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., offers their free community meal as a drive-up option. The next meal will be 4-5:30 p.m. May 13.

Grace Lutheran Church holds a weekly food distribution 2-4 p.m. every Wednesday. Signs will be posted with directions for parking and pickup.

The Lower Lehigh AARP will meet noon May 5 in the lower level of Macungie Memorial Hall in Macungie. The next meeting will be a picnic noon June 2. Tickets for the picnic are available through May 20. For more information, contact Dot at 610-967-3284.

The Lower Lehigh Lions will hold the annual spring flea market/garage sale 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 7 at Macungie Memorial Park.

The Macungie Farmers Market will open for the season 4-7 p.m. May 12 on Lumber Street, just off Main Street, Macungie. The market will be open every Thursday through the summer.

The Macungie Memorial V.F.W. Post No. 9264 will hold its annual Macungie Memorial Day observances May 29 and 30. On May 29, there will be veterans graveside ceremonies following this schedule: St. Peter’s Union Church 10:15 a.m.; Macungie Fairview Cemetery 11 a.m.; Solomon’s Church 11:30 a.m.; Old Zionsville Zion’s Lutheran Church noon and Bethany United Methodist East Texas Cemetery 12:30 p.m.
