FHS, LHS tennis teams win in quarterfinals

Freedom and Liberty’s boys tennis teams were winners in the District XI Class 3A Team Tennis Quarterfinals on Monday, advancing both teams to the semifinal round on Tuesday, past Press deadlines.

The Patriots were able to avenge an earlier 4-3 loss to Emmaus with a 4-1 victory over the Hornets at Freedom.

At the time of the earlier match, the Pates were without two singles player Arun Chhugani, who was in his regular spot on Monday, defeating Nick Stone, 7-5, 1-1 (default).

Also winning matches for the Patriots were Noah Potts over Eddie Chow, 6-2, 6-1, Gavin Labaddia over Nicholas Gilboy, 6-0, 6-1, and Noah Rodburg and Dylan Sarkozy over Gabe Hauff and Ryan Baig, 6-4, 6-3.

Emmaus’s Rohan Desai and Ayden Kegley were winners over Noah Bautista and Rohit Chinnawar, 4-6, 6-0, 10-5.

The Liberty Hurricanes swept their matches against Nazareth, winning 5-0, at Liberty.

Shayaan Farhad defeated Alex Rodriguez, 6-0, 6-3, Roman Farhad defeated Gideon Knowles, 6-0, 6-1, and

Luke Appleman defeated Ilias Phanzu, 6-0, 6-1.

Gavin Evans Gartley and Sid Tekumalla were winners over Isaan Patel and Logan Baltz, 6-1, 7-5, and Chris Giannaras and Jacksen Jobes won against Sai Pulavarthy and Alay Patel, 1-6, 6-1, 10-8.

Bethlehem Catholic fell to Moravian 5-1.

Arman Makwana was the lone winner for the Hawks at one singles. He defeated Will Menichelli 6-1, 6-3.

Picking up wins for Moravian were Ford Koch at two singles and Brian Yang at three singles.

Okezue Bell and Kendall Bolden won at one doubles and Nabeel Rifai and Hunter Zicherman won at two doubles.
