Judith A. Braun

Judith Ann “Judy” Braun, of Salisbury Township, 78, died peacefully April 22, 2022, at the Hospice House of the VNA of St. Luke’s, Bethlehem. She was the daughter of the late Dorothy A. (Coleman) and Roman R. Braun Sr., of Allentown.

She was a 1961 graduate of Dieruff High School and continued her education at the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as a registered nurse in 1964. Her chosen specialty was pediatrics and she went on to become the school’s pediatric instructor. During her tenure at the school of nursing, she received her Bachelor of Science degree from Moravian College, followed by a Master of Education degree from Lehigh University. Her passion and life’s work were always the health and welfare of children.

She was a true advocate for every child for whom she cared, often being called upon to testify in court cases involving child abuse, welfare and placement. She loved teaching and sharing her vast knowledge and experiences with future generations of nurses. After the nursing school closed, she accepted a position as a visiting nurse with St. Luke’s, again specializing in child health and welfare. She frequently donated her own resources and time so the children in her care could survive and thrive.

After retiring, she volunteered at the St. Mark’s Food Bank. She loved photography, bowling, playing cards, listening to music, attending her brother’s concerts and traveling to Alaska. She adored her dogs, Clarke, Holly, Molly and Nikki, but most of all, she loved her family with her whole heart.

She is survived by brothers, Robert, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Richard and his wife, Christianne, of Woodland Hills, Calif., Russell and his wife, April, of St. Augustine, Fla.; nieces, Bette Anderson, Judith Bleckley, Lisa, Amy Kris, Emma; nephews, Roman III, Randal, Kyle; several great and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Roman Jr. and Ronald.

Contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or your local animal shelter or rescue.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. April 28 at the Stephens Funeral Home, Inc., 274 N. Krocks Road, Allentown. Call 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
