Coordinated Health is now LVHN Orthopedic Institute

Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) has formed Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute.

Coordinated Health orthopedic practices and facilities, now part of Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute, will transition to the Orthopedic Institute in several months. LVHN acquired Coordinated Health in late 2019.

“The creation of Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute allows us to shape the future of orthopedic care in northeastern Pennsylvania, to innovate on a level that provides unparalleled depth and breadth in high-quality care delivery, research and patient experience across the entire musculoskeletal spectrum. That’s a big plus for the communities we serve,” said LVHN President and Chief Executive Officer Brian A. Nester, DO, MBA.

LVHN is the leading provider of joint replacement surgeries and sports medicine procedures.

The Orthopedic Institute allows LVHN to offer even more choice, more locations and more access to serve everyone’s needs, from competitive athletes to weekend warriors and everyone in between, according to an LVHN press release.

“LVHN’s orthopedic and musculoskeletal specialists now include nearly 150 providers from Scranton to the Lehigh Valley and beyond in every specialty and subspecialty, providing more choice for patients within the same network,” said John Pierro, MBA, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, LVHN.

“As the region’s top orthopedic partner, we’re better positioned to provide services designed for patients of all ages,” Pierro said.

Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute’s focus areas include orthopedics (orthopedic trauma, pediatric orthopedics, sports medicine), chiropractic care, podiatry, pain management and physical medicine and rehabilitation (physiatry).

“The combined talent of two award-winning healthcare groups boasts the highest orthopedic success rates in the region, and people in the communities we serve will reap the benefits of unparalleled excellence and access,” said Robert X. Murphy Jr., MD, MS, Executive Vice President and Chief Physician Executive, LVHN. “We are leading the way in joint replacement surgery with the latest technologies for better outcomes.”

“Collaboration, research and education fostered by an institute are vital to continued quality and leading-edge care,” Nester said.

“Orthopedics is a fast-growing, highly-specialized field, treating everything from arthritis to joint replacement to complex spinal problems. Expert surgical and nonsurgical care for the bones, muscles, joints and other parts of our complex musculoskeletal system is essential to living life to the fullest,” said Nester.

Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute is the fourth institute under LVHN, joining Lehigh Valley Heart and Vascular Institute, Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute and Lehigh Valley Institute for Surgical Excellence.
