William “Bill” W. Bandura, 92, of Bethlehem and formerly of Hokendauqua, died peacefully on March 27, 2022. Born in Lower Macungie Township, he was a son of the late Harry and Mary (Licholat) Bandura. He was the husband of the late Ellen M. (Deppen) Bandura. He was the husband of Stella J. (Henits) Bandura for the past 37 years.
He was in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He earned the rank of staff sargeant. He was assigned to Headquarters Company 1st Army at Fort Jay, Governor’s Island, New York.
He dedicated his life to the American Legion for over 69 years. His family was a mainstay of Jones-Quigg American Legion Post 739 for decades, where he was a five time commander and service officer for over 20 years. He was a Lehigh County American Legion Commander for one term and Adjutant for 13 years. He was Deputy Commander of the American Legion 14th District for 16 years. He attended at the Pennsylvania State Legion Convention in 1976 at the Bellevue Stratford Hotel, Philadelphia, where he was stricken with Legionnaires Disease.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Denise A., Joan M. Mohr with her husband Ralph, Jayne M., wife of the late Michael J. Long, Barbara E. with her finance Dan Trinkle; sons William W. Bandura Jr. with his wife Louise (Conrad), and Paul S. Bandura; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Catherine Duchodni.
He was predeceased by four brothers, Joseph, John, Paul and Stephen Bandura.
