Maelene L. Howerter, 83, of Emmaus, died March 14, 2022. She was the wife of the late Vernon J. Howerter who died April 3, 2017. Born in Gaston, N.C., she was the daughter of the late James Lloyd and Maelene Scott.

She attended Faith Evangelical Free Church, Trexlertown, where she sang in the choir and Bethel Bible Fellowship Church, Emmaus.

She was the owner of the former Maelene’s Bridal Gowns in Emmaus for several years. She also worked at Young’s Music, Weaver’s Gems and Minerals and Josh Early Candies, Allentown.

Known as Mommom to many, she spent much of her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Robin Young; a son, Scott; grandchildren, Rachael Young, Erin Masacci and her husband, Anthony; Drew; great-grandchildren, Hayden and Hadley; sisters, Barbara Cosgrove and Maryama Fields. She was predeceased by a sister, Jane Klapcuniak.
