Victor Cai named finalist in Regeneron Science Competition

Parkland High School senior Victor Cai has been named a Top 40 finalist in the 81st Regeneron Science Talent Search - the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and mathematics competition for high school seniors.

Cai was recently named a Top 300 scholar and, now as a finalist, will participate in the finals week competition March 9-16.

Finalists are each awarded at least $25,000, and the Top 10 winners will receive awards ranging from $40,000 to $250,000.

Cai joins the ranks of 13 Nobel Prize winners, 22 MacArthur Foundation Fellows and many other distinguished alumni of the Science Talent Search. This honor identifies Cai among the nation’s most promising young scientists or mathematicians.

Cai is president of the high school orchestra, and the Science Fair Club, and has been president of Math League for the past three years.

He also performs with Strolling Strings and is a member of the National, English and Math honor societies.

Cai is a two-time National Physics Olympiad qualifier, a three-time American Invitational Mathematics Examination qualifier and winner of second place in the National Junior Science and Humanity Symposium.

He has won a bronze medal in the North America Inspo Research and Innovation Competition and was a Broadcom Masters National Semifinalist.

Cai has participated in the NAfME All-National and All-Eastern Orchestras and twice was part of the PMEA All-State Orchestra.

He plans to study electrical and computer engineering.
