Stanley C. Younger

Stanley C. Younger, 89, of Macungie, died Jan. 11, 2022, peacefully of natural causes surrounded by his family at Lehigh Valley Hospice. He was the husband of Henrietta ‘Mitzi” (Tamerler) Younger. They were married for 67 years on Oct. 16, 2021. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Russell A. and Grace T. (Drey) Younger.

He attended Longswamp High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy for four years, comprised of two and a half years in naval service and the remaining time as a corpsman with the Marines. He served on the USS Shangrila and the USS Antietam (CV-36), which was retrofitted to make it the first true angled-deck aircraft carrier.

After military service he first worked for L.F. Grammes Co. and later for various trucking companies, retiring from New Penn Motor Express after 19 years of service.

He was a member and former councilman of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Breinigsville.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Jeffrey and his wife, Anne, of South Carolina, Scott and his wife, Brenda, of Mertztown; granddaughter, Crystal and great-grandchildren, Emma Jane, Kylee and Cody, all of Topton; a sister, Marlene Johnson in Florida; a niece and a nephew. He was predeceased by a son, Mark Stanley in 1957.
