Dr. Ruth E. Frye, DO, 63, of Allentown, died Jan. 15, 2022, surrounded by family after battling brain cancer. She and her husband, Frank J. Gasper, would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in March. Born in Pottstown, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Erma Catherine (Schmoyer) Frye.

She was a 1984 graduate of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

She was a proctor for Eastcentral PA Area Health Education Centers, mentoring medical students.

She served her patients as a physician and part owner of Emaus Avenue Family Practice in Allentown. She also served the Allentown School District for many years as a school physician.

She was an incredibly involved band mom with the Allentown Central Catholic High School marching band while her daughter was in high school. She enjoyed watching movies and stage performances with her family. She loved being in the kitchen with her daughter, especially around the holidays.

She genuinely cared for all around her: family, friends, staff and patients. She touched many lives and will be dearly missed by all.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Cathy Gasper; a brother, Roger and his wife, Shelly; a sister-in-law, Patty and her husband, Mike Hambrecht; in-laws, Bob and Lisa. She was predeceased by a brother, Ron.
