Roughies Report: LCTI to offer new program

Lehigh Career & Technical Institute is now accepting applications for its newest career and technical education program, animal sciences. This dual-enrollment program combines skills-based, interactive and college-level classroom learning with shadowing at Lehigh Valley Zoo and Macungie Animal Hospital.

The program is designed for high school seniors interested in animal science and veterinary medicine and allows students the opportunity to explore careers in both fields firsthand. In addition, the program is designed to prepare students for postsecondary education by offering college science courses.

Remember, this is a seniors-only program. Students not slated to graduate with the Class of 2023 are not eligible for enrollment.

The application deadline is Feb. 11. Visit the school’s website, lcti.org, for more information.

As a reminder for the 2021-22 academic year, Catasauqua Area School District is suspending the practice of curbside meal service, and instead, meals may be ordered for pickup for students who are learning remotely. If you are a parent/guardian of a CASD student who is learning remotely and you would like to order meals for your child, send a new email to nagyl@cattysd.org by noon Wednesday of each week. Include the student’s name and grade along with the dates covered by the meals you are requesting. Five days’ worth of meals, including a breakfast and lunch, per weekday will be distributed each week.

Orders can be picked up 9:30 a.m. Thursdays by ringing the doorbell at the kitchen door in front of Sheckler Elementary School. This pickup area is just a few yards from the driveway location where curbside service was previously offered.
