Allen Township supervisors reorganize

Allen Township Board of Supervisors met Jan. 3 for its annual reorganization meeting.

Dale Hassler was appointed as chairman of the board, a position he filled in his previous term.

The board has two vacant positions. One became vacant when Timothy Paul won two seats, serving two- and six-year terms, in the 2021 municipal election.

Gary Behler, a previous supervisor and vice chairman, was nominated by Paul Link, with a second by Paul, to fill the two-year term Paul won in the election. Behler was then reappointed as vice chairman as well.

The other seat became vacant with Bruce Frack’s resignation, effective Dec. 31, 2021. Frack served as a supervisor for 18 years. The board will take applications and intends to appoint a replacement at its Jan. 25 meeting.

Ilene Eckhart was also reappointed to her position as township manager and secretary. She was also reappointed as interim zoning officer.

Yohanna Vega was reappointed to her position as treasurer.

Barry Isett & Associates Inc. was reappointed as the township engineer, and Lincoln Treadwell was reappointed as the township solicitor. Walter Diefenderfer kept his position as code enforcement officer.

The board also took care of a few administrative matters, including approving 13 paid holidays and acknowledging the fire department officers, before adjourning.

The board of supervisors next meets 7 p.m. Jan. 25 in the township fire company building, 3530 Howertown Road.
