Thomas Robert Beam

Thomas Robert Beam, 59, of Gettysburg, formerly of Orefield, died Jan. 1, 2022, in Martinsburg, VA Medical Center, W.Va.

He and his wife, Shiela Rose (Laureano) Beam, were married 13 years.

Born May 29, 1962 in Allentown, he was the son of the late Robert E. and Elsie L. (Ruppert) Beam.

A permanent and totally disabled veteran, he faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during Desert Storm and the Panama War with a rank of Specialist E4, and during the Cold War in West Germany when the Berlin Wall fell.

He was a member of the Gettysburg American Legion Post 202 and a former member and chaplain of Allen O. Delke American Legion Post 16, Slatington.

He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans, member of the Sons of the American Revolution and Sons of Union Veterans.

From 2004-14, he participated as an actor in “A Christmas Carol” at the Civic Theatre, Allentown.

In 1979, he was a member of Boy Scout Troop 60, earning an Eagle Scout Award and Pro Deo et Patria.

He attended Lighthouse Baptist Church, Gettysburg.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Jennifer V. Beam, of Breinigsville; brother George E. Beam of Slatington; sister Carol L. Gilbert of Whitehall; and beloved service dog, McGinnis.

He was predeceased by a brother, David B. Beam.
