Library offering various virtual programs

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, is now requiring masks regardless of vaccination status for everyone age 2 and older.

Patrons who have tested positive for COVID-19, are awaiting for COVID-19 test results, have COVID-19 symptoms, or have had close contact with a person who has tested positive for or who has symptoms of COVID-19, are not to attend in-person programs and should chose online programs, when available.

With the recent surge of COVID-19 cases, the library will be switching to virtual programming throughout January. This status will be reassessed at the end of the month.

Some programs may be postponed. Check with your presenter first before coming to the library, if you are unclear of the program’s status.

The library will host American novelist, short story writer, poet and Pennsylvania native “Louisa May Alcott” 11 a.m. to noon Jan. 15 via Zoom. This event will be presented by the Heritage Theatre Guild.

Hear stories about the life and career of Alcott from the author herself.

All ages are welcome and registration is required.

Kids ages 4-10 are invited to join yoga instructor Larissa Noto, from Lovely Little Lotus, for a virtual Kids Yoga Story Time program hosted via Zoom 4-4:30 p.m. Jan. 17.

A Teen Dungeon and Dragons Night, for students in seventh through 12th grade, will meet 6-8 p.m. Jan. 17 via Zoom.

Join library staff for a virtual Family Story Time 10-10:30 a.m. Jan. 18 and 25 via Zoom.

This program is best suited for families with children ages 1-5, but all ages are welcome.

There will be songs, rhymes and read-aloud stories.

The Page Turners group will meet 7-8 p.m. Jan. 18 via Zoom to discuss the novel “Arcadia” by Lauren Groff.

Preschool Story Time and craft for children ages 3-5 will take place virtually 1:30-2 p.m. on Jan. 19 and 26 via Zoom.

Teen Drawing Club for students in grades five to 10 will meet via Zoom from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Jan. 19 to draw and chat with fellow peers.

The Library’s Young Critics Book Club for third- through sixth-graders will meet via Zoom 6:30-7:15 p.m. Jan. 20 to chat with Remy Lai, author and illustrator of “Pawcasso and Pie in the Sky.”

The club will also share ideas for other great reads.

The library will hos Chef Rob for his Winter Food Festival 3-4 p.m. Jan. 22 on Facebook.

Festival recipes will include Freshly Baked Provolone and Sun-dried Tomato Bread

Baked Ravioli with a Spinach and Artichoke Sauce, Warmed Marbled Pound Cake with Mascarpone, Apricot Preserves and Toasted Almonds.

Patrons are encouraged to cook along with Chef Rob.

To receive a copy of Chef Rob’s recipes and ingredient list, participants must register to attend his program.
