Essay contest, holiday parties among Emmaus’ activity agenda

The Shelter House Society, an Emmaus organization managing one of the Lehigh Valley’s first colonial homes, is holding an essay contest on local history. All Emmaus High School students enrolled in a history course are eligible to participate.

Submissions must focus on local history, follow MLA format, stand between 800 and 1000 words and cite sources. Forward submissions to jwmaulfair@verizon.net by Dec. 15. Three winners will be selected.

Prizes include monetary awards, a feature in The Shelter House’s annual publication and junior memberships to the society.

The Emmaus High School theater department will celebrate its holiday party 2:30-3:15 p.m. Dec. 16 in Room 201.

The next boys varsity basketball game is a home game scheduled 7 p.m. Dec. 17 against Dieruff High School.

For football players interested in returning to next year’s team, the first workout session will be held 2:40 p.m. Dec. 20 in the weight room. Freshmen or new students interested in joining the team began sessions Dec. 13. For the upcoming meeting schedule, contact Mr. Hildebrand in Room 361.

A reminder to all students and staff – EHS is collecting pet supplies for Whitehall’s Peaceable Kingdom animal shelter through Dec. 20. Collection boxes can be found in the main office, cafeteria hallway, auditorium lobby and lobby near door #4.

Habitat for Humanity will hold its holiday party 2:30 p.m. Dec. 21 in Room 513. Use the Google Form linked in the club’s Schoology page to indicate your snack contributions and your preferred activities for the celebration.

PSAT scores from October’s exam are available on Naviance or www.collegeboard.org. Check your student email for a link to your score and more information.

Students in the Class of 2025 can pick up T-shirt orders in Room 524. Check the EHS announcements website for the latest pickup dates. Students who did not previously order a shirt can also pick up an order form outside of Room 524.
