Ola B. Cehelsky

Ola B. Cehelsky, of Bethlehem, died Oct. 30, 2021, at Above and Beyond Assisted Living, Allentown. Born in Liviv, Ukraine, she was a daughter of Volodomyr Bilozor and Maria Fedynska Bilozor. She was the wife of the late Yaroslav Cehelsky with whom she came to the United States in 1949.

She trained in a conservatory for voice and opera. During World War II she and her family fled to Germany. While a refugee in a Red Cross camp, she performed for United States troops.

She taught piano and sang in the choir at St. Josephat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church. She taught children the Ukrainian language She helped organize the Lehigh Valley Ukrainian Millennial Choir, and traveled with the choir to celebrate 1,000 years of Christianity in the Ukraine. She worked at various Lehigh Valley sewing factories for name brand clothing.

She is survived by four children, Martha M. (Cehelsky) Jarosh (Roman) of New Lebanon, N.Y., Adrian Cehelsky (Diane) of Covington Twp., Nadiya Cehelsky Kidd (the late Owen) of Whitehall and Oksana Cehelsky Klapischak (George) of Santa Fe, N.M.; two sisters, Natalia Bilozor Koropeckyj of Elkins Park and Oksana Bilozor Koropeckyj of Catonsville, Md.; and three grandchildren, Julian Jarosh (Jennifer) of London, Ont.; Sofia Klapischak of Sante Fe, N.M. and Deanna Klapischak of Ann Arbor, Mich.
