Edward L. Williamson Jr.

Edward L. Williamson Jr., 93, formerly of Dover, N.J., died Oct. 30, 2021, in Fellowship Community, Whitehall.

He was the husband of the late Eileen (Drogue) Williamson.

Born March 26, 1928, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he grew up in Harrington Park, N.J. and was the son of the late Edward L. Williamson Sr. and Lucille (Washington) Williamson.

As a young boy, he was an altar boy, involved in Boy Scouts, was a life guard and enjoyed playing sports.

He faithfully and honorably served in the U.S. Army during the World War II era as a civil defense messenger and a junior firefighter.

A 1953 graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, he was a mechanical engineer.

He was a project engineer for Becton Dickinson Inc. Clay Adams Division, Parsippany, N.J. for 12 years before retiring. Before that, he worked for American Can Company and Thiokol Chemical Corporation where he assisted in the development of rocket and diesel engines.

He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield.

His greatest joy was his wife and family.

His survivors include children Kevin C. Williamson and his wife, Doreen, of Ridge, Long Island, N.Y., Laura A. Zacher and her husband, Joseph, of Allentown, Christopher A. Williamson and his wife, Nicole, of Vestavia Hills, Ala.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Nov. 4 at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield.

Family and friends may pay their respects 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the church on Thursday.

Private interment with military honors will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterford, N.Y.
