Coplay: Dave Betz Polka Band set to perform

The Dave Betz Polka Band will be performing 3 p.m. Nov. 7 at Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St.

The Sunday polkas are moving indoors as the weather gets colder.

St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St., is holding a Thanksgiving filling sale. Orders are due Nov. 8.

Pickup will be noon-6 p.m. Nov. 19 at the church hall.

The church will also be holding a Christmas cutout cookie sale. Orders are due Nov. 15.

Cookie pickup will be 3-6 p.m. Dec. 3 in the church hall.

There is a craft/vendor show planned for 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 14 at Commitment to Family and Community, 165 Cherry St.

The kitchen is open. A bake sale and a cookie sale will take place as well.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St., is holding a Thanksgiving filling sale.

The 55th annual Coplay Community Ecumenical Thanksgiving service for the three Coplay churches will be held 7 p.m. Nov. 21 at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church.

Coplay American Legion Post 426 has a special mailbox in front of the Post at 134 S. Second St.

Old, worn-out flags can be deposited into the mailbox for proper disposal.

If you catch a stray or feral cat, call the Sanctuary at Haafsville at 484-894-3401.

Volunteers there will assist you in placing the cat. They do charge a modest fee.

St. Peter Roman Catholic Church plans to offer companion niche ossuariums to church members for placement of remains at the cemetery on Hokendauqua Street.

They are slated to be offered in February 2022 and are touted as less costly than a casket burial. More information is to come.

The church is selling its lucky number calendars for 2022.

Coplay Food Bank is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.

The food bank is located in the lower level of the municipal building, 98 S. Fourth St.

If unable to attend the Tuesday-morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

The Coplay Senior Citizens group meets the first and third Wednesdays of each month at Commitment to Family and Community, 165 Cherry St.

Coplay Athletic Club is seeking new and renewal members.

The gym is located on the second floor of the municipal building.

A gym membership costs $90 per year and $70 for renewals.

The weekly yard waste and leaf pickup by the borough’s sanitation crew continues every Friday.

Grass collection has been suspended until spring of 2022.

Electronics recycling and other items can be dropped off at DCR Technologies, 205 Main St., Northampton.
