Gilfrid Rolf Levy

Gilfrid Rolf Levy, 84, of Allentown, formerly of Emmaus, died Oct. 20, 2021, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Michele R. (Willner) Levy. They celebrated 60 years of marriage March 26. Born in Wilmington, Del., he was the son of the late Siegfried and Gerda (Neumann) Levy and the great-great-grandson of Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch.

He was a member of Temple Beth El.

He earned his ABD in physical chemistry and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

He was a physical chemist, spending most of his career with the Bethlehem Steel Corporation and later with Atlas Powder and AT&T Bell Labs. Later in life, he worked for Judge Gardner in the Lehigh County Court House.

He enjoyed singing with the Bach Choir and the Camerata Singers.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Dr. Armond L. and his wife, Stephanie and Erik S. and his wife, Barbra; grandchildren, Matthew, Alexander, Frances, Margot, Isabelle and Charles. He was predeceased by a brother, Ernest.
