Whitehall Township Public Library: Celebrate banned books

Soon, the library will be celebrating Banned Books Week!

This is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read, and this year’s theme is “Books Unite Us. Censorship Divides Us.”

Typically held during the last week of September, it spotlights current and historical attempts to censor books in libraries and schools.

Stop in Sept. 27-Oct. 2 to see our Banned Books Week display, and pick up a list of the most-banned books in the United States in 2020.

Starting Sept. 28, we’re opening up online registration for our fall storytimes. See whitehallpl.org.

There will also be a Zoom storytime for all ages - recommended for children 12-36 months old - 11 a.m. Thursdays from Oct. 14 to Nov. 11.

The adult coloring club meets 11 a.m.-1 p.m. the first and third Thursday of every month.

The adult book club meets 1-2 p.m. the first Thursday of the month.

At our book club, we talk about whatever we’re reading currently or recently finished.

***

Teenage library lovers might be interested in joining our Teen Advisory Board.

It meets 1:30 p.m. the second Saturday of every month, and it helps plan and execute different events for the kids, like our upcoming Halloween event.

Details will be announced.
