John H. Yerger

John H. “Peepers” Yerger, 92, of Salisbury Township, died Sept. 9, 2021, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. He was the husband of the late Josephine R. (Spaitz) Yerger. Born in Beavertown, Northumberland County, he was the son of the late John David and Lavina (Ferry) Yerger.

He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He worked as a shop forger at Bonney Forge & Tool in Allentown.

He was a life member of the Slatington VFW and Rural Rod & Gun Club in Trexlertown. He built and raced stock cars for 45 years and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by a daughter, Joanne and her husband, Jim Barr, of Florida; a son, David, of Emmaus; a sister, Esther “Babe” Haldeman, of Whitehall; grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeffrey. He was predeceased by a son, John Jr. and a granddaughter, Jamie.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Sept. 16, in the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, Inc., 46 E. Susquehanna St., Allentown. A viewing will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 15 and 10 to 11 a.m. Sept. 16 all in the funeral home. Face coverings are to be worn inside the funeral home if you are not vaccinated.
