Bath: Emmanuel’s collecting canned tuna, chicken for food bank

During the month of September, Emmanuel’s Lutheran Church, 3175 Valley View Drive, will help Bath Area Food Bank by collecting canned tuna and canned chicken. There is also an ongoing need for ramen noodles.

The food bank is always in need of monetary donations.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 206 E. Main St., is hosting an open door event, scheduled for 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 11. There will be free crafts, Christian puppet shows 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., food trucks, flea market, vendors and a raffle.

Emmanuel’s Lutheran Church will hold a special kickoff event for all Sunday school students after the 9:30 a.m. outdoor service Sept. 12.

Weekly Sunday school will begin 10 a.m. Sept. 19 in the old fellowship hall.

Emmanuel’s will be making a change regarding its Sunday morning schedule.

Effective Sept. 19, the service times will be as follows: traditional service in the sanctuary, 8:45 a.m.; celebration service in the fellowship hall, 10 a.m.; Sunday school, 10 a.m.

As the fall season begins, a new opportunity for gathering Sundays before contemporary worship will be offered.

Additionally the church will offer coffee and individually wrapped pastry treats 9-9:45 a.m., beginning Sept. 19, as the congregation gathers in the old fellowship hall to discuss contemporary issues in the church and the world.

All ages are welcome.

The Blues and Brews event is set for 1-6 p.m. Sept. 18 on South Chestnut Street. There will be bands, vendors and more.

The band schedule is: The BC Combo, 1-2 p.m.; Steve Brosky and Kenny Siftar on the patio at the Red Wolf Bar and Grille, 2-4 p.m.; Pawnshop Bound, 2:30-4 p.m.; and, finally, Big Bone Daddy, 4:30-6 p.m.

After 6 p.m., there will be an after-party at Blend.

Bring your own lawn chairs.
