Bath approves 2022 event

At the Aug. 2 Bath Borough Council meeting, Councilman Frank Hesch asked council to approve a reunion/homecoming event for current and former Bath residents.

According to Hesch, this event had been a regular occurrence in the borough but was last held in 1912. He wants to hold a weeklong celebration Aug. 14-20, 2022, ending on the Spuds and Suds festival.

Council approved Hesch to develop a committee to begin planning.

A resident complained about a parking issue in the Old Forge section of Bath. She relayed numerous issues, such as driveways being too short and parking obstructing sidewalks. Borough Manager Brad Flynn said there is a plan to address the issues, but council has not yet seen it. It was suggested the borough engineer get involved.

Bath Fire Department representative Paul Connelly reported there were 11 fire calls, four EMS calls, 12 assists with Moore Township and one assist each to East Allen and Upper Nazareth townships for July.

Council President Michele Ehrgott said they are working on raises for borough staff, and the first draft of the 2022 budget is expected by the end of September.

Mayor Fiorella Reginelli-Mirabito said the community yard sale is Sept. 11 and announced the community campfire is 7-10 p.m. Oct. 23. Additionally, Coffee with the Cops is set for 9-11 a.m. Oct. 9 at borough hall, 121 S. Walnut St.

Resolution 2021-011 was passed. Ehrgott was appointed to the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission, and Mark Saginario was appointed as the alternate.

Ordinance 2021-709, amending the zoning ordinance, was passed. Ordinance 2021-710, creating an accessible parking space at 226 E. Northampton Street, was also passed.
