Next Level Dance Academy, 6299 Route 309, New Tripoli, in Star Plaza, recently hosted a grand opening.

The dance academy offers a variety of classes, including ballet, modern, tap, jazz, contemporary and hip-hop.

There are preschool classes for ages 3-5 with students placed in classes based on age and grade level.

Adult dance cardio/conditioning classes are offered Saturdays.

Founder and director of Next Level Dance Academy Savannah Zerff began her dance training at age 3.

In 2006, she attended Pennsylvania Governors School of the Arts.

In 2007, she attended the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater summer dance program.

She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance at Long Island University, Brooklyn.

There she studied under Dana Hash Campbell, former principal dancer for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.

Sara Neece, former ballet master for the Robert Battle Dance Company, and Nathan Trice.

Zerff was chosen in her freshman year to perform a duet choreographed by Alenka Cizmesija.

In her second year, she received the lead role of Giselle in Donald Byrds work - Life’s Situations, staged by Stephanie Guiland Brown.

In addition, she performed works choreographed by Robert Battle, Ronald K. Brown, Urban Bush Women, Donald Byrd, Nathan Trice, Earl Mosley, Alenka Cizmesija and Roger Belman.

She worked directly with the choreographers and former company members who set the work.

Zerff is looking forward to sharing her knowledge and passion with everyone.

“Our mission is to provide ‘Next Level’ dance instruction and instill an appreciation for the art of dance in a safe studio environment,” Zerff states on the dance academy web-site. “Our goal is to also help the students grow into mature and respectful humans in and out of the dance studio,

Zerff is planning a June recital each year for all students.

Summer classes will be offered in July and August with fall sessions running from September to June.

The Next Level Dance Academy features a 900-square-foot dance studio, with Marley vinyl and spring sub-flooring, allowing for the floor to give on impact and sink slightly when a dancer lands from a jump.
