Whitehall, Coplay to receive state grants

State Rep. Jeanne McNeill, D-133rd, announced May 25 two Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) awards, totaling $141,056, will be provided to Whitehall Township and Coplay Borough. The funding is through the Blight Remediation Program, created under the CFA in 2019.

“[The] announcement shows a continued commitment to our communities here in Lehigh County and across the commonwealth,” McNeill said. “It’s these types of projects that are actually long-term investments in our neighborhoods - investments that enrich our lives, improve our safety and set us on a course for generations to follow.”

Awards have been granted as follows.

• Whitehall: $59,634 for the renovation and preservation of the historic house on the Mickley-Prydun Farm

• Coplay: $81,422 for the purchase of playground equipment at Saylor Park and the tot lot

According to McNeill, in May 2020, the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development issued the guidelines for the new reimbursable grant program.

The CFA is an independent state agency responsible for administering Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus programs.
