Volunteer firefighters participate in joint training drill

By CHIEF MATT KRAPF

Special to The Press

The four Northwestern School District fire companies and neighboring Kempton Fire Company recently participated in a joint training drill at Jacob’s Church, 8373 Kings Highway, Jacksonville, Lynn Township.

The May 17 drill included a simulated church fire which involved setting up a constant water supply to operate multiple master stream devices.

This was accomplished by running a 5-inch water supply line from Leaser Lake to the church, as well as creating a revolving water tanker shuttle to portable ponds.

With a turnout of more than 50 volunteer firefighters and fire police, the training was a highly successful demonstration of teamwork within the Northwestern community.

Volunteers are needed for firefighter activities and for all types of positions within the fire departments.
