Walking path plan changes finalized

Following public comment at the April 28 Alburtis Borough Council meeting, the council carried a motion to accept the proposed changes to the walking path at the Hills at Lockridge.

The project, carried out by Jaindl Land Development and Company, raised privacy concerns among neighbors because they felt the trail came too close to their homes. On Zoom, council President Ron DeIaco and Vice-President Stephen Hill discussed options one and two proposed by Jaindl. Council favored option two, which pulled the trail away from the homes.

Resident Mehmet Birtek expressed his gratitude for the council’s consideration and cooperation with his and other resident concerns.

“We are very happy as neighbors,” he said.

Howard Kutzler also attended the meeting on behalf of Jaindl. Hill asked Kutzler to pass on the council’s appreciation for his assistance with working around the resident’s concerns about the walking path.

“Everybody appreciated the help we got from him,” Hill said.

Hill also announced Rick Koze from Kay Builders said the company will come and fix the swales near homes in the Hills at Lockridge. Hill and other council members walked through the area to show Koze the issue. Kay Builders will notify homeowners of when they will perform work to fix the swales, which council presumes will take place soon.

“They want to get it done and they want to get out of there, so, I assume it is going to start fairly soon,” Hill said.

In other news, borough Manager Sharon Trexler also announced the borough still has not located exactly who keeps flushing industrial mops, but they know it is coming from the west. Trexler explained the borough checked the mops of local businesses and confirmed that none of them match. According to Trexler, engineer Donnie Derr believes the mops are coming from the “upper portion” of the borough.
